Recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by National Storytelling NetworkIt has been my belief and guiding objective throughout my years of teaching that it is the arts that are most basic to education. It is through the arts that we understand and appreciate those of other cultures and times. It is through the performing, visual and literary arts that imaginations are sparked and creative thinking nurtured. I must believe that my 33 years of teaching in creative drama. theatre for youth, and storytelling has indeed made a positive difference in the lives of many. Storytelling is a natural way to develop communication and literary skills as well as an appreciation of a traditional art form for its own sake.
